B.A. Art Practice, University of California, Berkeley
High Distinction in General Scholarship
Hi, I'm Julia. I have been writing novel-length speculative fiction seriously for the past six years, and have studied story structure and story craft extensively. I cut my teeth editing my own work for several years (fiction and nonfiction) and furthered my skills by editing the work of peers. Though my B.A. is in Art, my degree was highly interdisciplinary and writing-heavy. In addition to my writing, I am a working visual artist. You can see my work over on my sister site, darkmatterpaintbrush.com
My stand-out strengths as a developmental editor are in refining character development, increasing character chemistry, clarifying and heightening emotional beats, and guiding plot pacing into an enjoyable, impactful, marketable form.
